THE 2026-2027 CONCERT SERIES: AROUND
The 2026-2027 Concert Series, Around, continues its reputation as an elite youth music initiative in DuPage County, aiming to scale its success by implementing a collaborative leadership model, professionalizing the patron experience, and elevating audience immersion.
Around centers on the concept of gathering our community together for two transformative musical experiences. We will open on December 6, 2026, with “Around the Christmas Tree,” focusing on festive repertoire centered on togetherness. Then, on April 11, 2027, we will close the season with “Around the Sunset Glow,” our next installment of high-energy yacht rock, designed to transport the audience through a sonic sunset. Both performances will take place at 4:00 PM at Naperville Covenant Church.

In April 2026, Artistic Director Alexander J. Amato presented Amid the Harbor Lights, a concert surrounding the genre of "yacht-rock" from the late 1970s & early 1980s. He was joined by ten young musicians representing nine schools across seven different communities across the state of Illinois. The program featured artists including Christopher Cross, Toto, Fleetwood Mac, America, Billy Joel, Elton John, and more. This concert, drawing a full house audience, was a meaningful way to close the inaugural 2025-2026 concert series, Amid.
In December 2025, Artistic Director Alexander J. Amato presented Amid the Winter's Snow, a multi-instrumental celebration that brought the Christmas season to vibrant life. He was joined by eleven young performers representing seven schools across five communities. Spanning over three centuries of festive repertoire, the program showcased solo piano alongside voice, percussion, strings, brass, and electric guitar. The collaboration was immense, uniting over 85 people from audience to crew to performers for a moment that beautifully captured the light and warmth emerging during the year's coldest time.
Our full-house inaugural "INFORMance" was a joyful celebration and showcase of the songs, games, and musical skills the Amatones students discovered during their three-week summer program at the Alive Center. Designed to be more than just a performance, this unique event gave families and the broader Naperville community a true peek into the rehearsal process. The performance featured engaging demonstrations, including vocal warmups, breathing exercises, and solfege games, highlighting what it is truly like to be a singer under the direction of Alex Amato and Allie Budney. The inaugural youth chorus also performed three choral works by Roger Emerson and Gerda Blok-Wilson, with collaborative accompaniment from pianist Liam Nelson and percussionist Taylor Swiatek. It was a wonderful celebration that brought the community together through the power of music and student achievement.

In June 2025, Amatones successfully launched its first program, providing a space for singers in grades 3–8 to explore music literacy and creativity. The three-week session culminated in a community concert and set the stage for our expansion into the 501(c)(3) organization we are today.
